Construction of bench will be similar to photo 1. The shelf will be larger than what is shown in photo 1. The shelf will be 7.25" wide and .75" thick.
The bench must be 21" tall in order to achieve all of the spacing you'd like. See photo 2 for a similar bench with the correct dimensions in red. The shelf will NOT be as shown in photo 2.
Legs: 1.5" x 3.5" planks (as shown in photo 1) NOT as shown in photo 2.
Overhang: 12" on each side to clear stairs. Seating should be done within the pedestals, never on the ends. This is a large overhang for a bench.
Bench top: 1.5" thickness - single 11.25" wide plank, no design
Stain: Dark Walnut
